Alaska Compensation

Employees covered by Alaska's minimum wage law must be paid $9.84 an hour and must remain at least 50 cents an hour more than the federal minimum wage. Tips cannot be credited toward the minimum wage.

Alaska Payroll for Employers

Alaska employers must pay wages at least monthly; however, if employees so choose, employers must pay semi-monthly, unless the initial contract required monthly pay periods.

Alaska Income Tax Withholding


The State of Alaska currently does not have an individual income tax, therefore no employee withholding for state income tax is required.

Alaska levies a corporate net income tax based on federal taxable income with certain Alaska adjustments. Multi-state corporations apportion income on water's edge basis using the standard apportionment formula of property, payroll and sales.

Alaska law does not specify the exact amount of leave time that must be granted. In fact, employers do not have to allow employees time off if the employees have at least two consecutive hours before or after their work shifts during which the polls are open. Employers cannot deduct from employees wage payments for the time spent voting.
