One of the fastest ways for small business owners to get ahead today is through technology. While you can’t control the level of demand in your industry or fluctuations in the economy, there are a number of things you can do to make your business more efficient.

Small business owners are increasingly using relatively inexpensive, easy to use tech tools to make their lives easier and save cash for their businesses.

As you search for the best tech tools for your business, you may wonder what other entrepreneurs are doing? That's why SurePayroll surveyed small business owners nationwide to find out how they rank their favorite apps, social media outlets and more (see the full list below).

Some of these are household names, others may be new to you, and perhaps you'll get some new ideas on how you can save time, space, staff resources and yes, money. Take a look how the rankings shook out in a number of different categories (tech tools divided by a slash are tied in the rankings) and be sure to share with us your favorite tech tools on Twitter @SurePayroll.

Some other findings from the survey include that 70 percent of small business owners are changing the way they do business to adjust for a more technology-based market. As many as 80 percent are leveraging mobile technology for their businesses.

The question now is, what did we miss on the survey? What else are you using? And what's coming next? The changes in technology have been so rapid - many of things we do in a few clicks or swipes on a phone were not available just a few years ago. Surely there is more to come on the technology front.
